OUR PRIMARY CURRICULUM
-
At Pathfinder Education, we are committed to ensuring every pupil reaches their full academic potential through a tailored and supportive approach. We recognise that each learner is unique, so we provide small group work to foster collaboration, focused attention, and peer learning in a supportive environment. Through personalised learning approaches, we adapt teaching to meet individual needs, strengths, and aspirations, ensuring pupils remain challenged, motivated, and engaged. In addition, we deliver targeted interventions designed to close learning gaps, accelerate progress, and build confidence in key subject areas. Together, these strategies form the foundation of our academic support, enabling all pupils to thrive, achieve ambitious outcomes, and develop the skills they need for lifelong success.

Pathfinder Education is committed to ensuring that all pupils receive a high-quality PSHE education that promotes their personal, social, and emotional development. Our curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge, skills, and values to stay safe, healthy, and prepared for adult life. We foster resilience, empathy, and responsible decision-making, ensuring pupils are well-prepared to succeed in modern society and contribute positively to their communities.

At Pathfinder Education, we are committed to fostering the social and emotional development of every pupil. Our approach is designed to support pupils in developing strong self-regulation skills and the ability to identify, understand, and communicate their feelings effectively. Through a nurturing and structured environment, we aim to equip pupils with strategies to manage emotions, make thoughtful choices, and engage in positive interactions. By embedding emotional literacy and self-regulation practices across our curriculum and daily routines, we strive to give pupils the tools to build resilience, confidence, and meaningful relationships, laying the foundation for lifelong wellbeing and success.
At Pathfinder Education, our primary phase curriculum is designed to provide every child with a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, ensuring full alignment with the National Curriculum while meeting the diverse needs of all learners. We believe that the ability to read, write, communicate, and work confidently with numbers underpins all future learning and life opportunities.
Our curriculum intent goes beyond academic outcomes. Alongside teaching of literacy and numeracy, we place a strong emphasis on personal development, PSHE, and the teaching of self-regulation skills. We recognise the importance of nurturing the whole child socially, emotionally, and mentally so that they feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
We are committed to meeting pupils where they are in their learning journey, understanding that each child starts from a different point and progresses at their own pace. Through personalised teaching approaches, targeted interventions, and adaptive strategies, we ensure that learning experiences are both accessible and challenging, enabling every pupil to achieve their full potential.
Through carefully planned experiences, we aim to:
Deliver academic progression in literacy and numeracy, equipping pupils with the essential knowledge and skills they need for the next stage of education.
Promote personal growth by embedding PSHE and character education throughout the curriculum, helping children to develop empathy, respect, resilience, and confidence.
Support social and emotional well-being by explicitly teaching emotional literacy, self-regulation strategies, and positive mental health practices.
Provide inclusive opportunities so that every child, regardless of need or background, can thrive academically and personally.
Tailor learning experiences to meet pupils where they are, ensuring progress is meaningful, individualised, and celebrated at every stage.
By integrating academic rigour with personal development and emotional well-being, we aim to prepare pupils for a positive reintegration into their mainstream settings. Our aims to support pupils to become confident, compassionate, and capable individuals.
